![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In 1980, Bill went to work for Jack O’Malley at Orient Express until finally opening and incorporating his own shop under the name of Robinson Industries in 1997. He later worked for a machine shop where he developed his skills. A rather good place to start for an up and coming drag racer. Bill Robinson at Robinson Industries has been making custom gears and transmission output shafts for over 15 years now. Bill used to work for a Kawasaki Dealer in the 1970’s when he was bitten by the drag racing bug and started out on a Kawasaki S3 2-stroke with a best time of 14.0 ET. And where do we get such an animal as OverDrive Gears? Why there is no other place on earth that I would turn to than Robinson Industries of course. That’s right folks, OverDrive gears in our transmission. Since we need more gearing, lets install an actual OverDrive into our transmission. Now as most of you have already surmised, there is no way that a stock transmission from the venerable Suzuki Hayabusa motor is going to be able to give us enough gear ratio to even turn the rear wheel to a buzzing 300mph without some modifications. This is the mechanism that is going to transfer our power to a graduated ratio of gears and cogs to allow us to smoothly transition from 0-300mph all in the space of a mile. Now that we have the Crankshaft ready for the cases, its time to look at one of the more important items in the drive train and that’s the transmission. Welcome to another brain burning barrage of beleaguered bombastic and boorish dribble from yours truly. ![]()
